Artists Drawing 'Moving Visions' images from July 2008

A drawing from rehearsals in 2008 of 'Moving Visions' at the Rambert School of Ballet and contemporary dance. Sold

Drawing the human figure in movement is profoundly challenging and absorbing. By sharing the experience of the Moving Visions dance program from rehearsals to final performances in St Pauls Cathedral, the artists, Kim Valdez and Linda Mattock, set out to explore the parallels between the experience of the dancer and the experience of the artist.

They were inspired by the concept 'that dance is potentially naturally numinous' explored by Ross McKim, Director of the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in the Moving Visions program of Cathedral dance, see www.cathedraldanceresearch.co.uk

These drawings by Kim Valdez were all made as the rehearsal or dance performance proceeded and are an instant response to the presence of music, rythm and movement. Most of them were made over 4 to 6 performances, except the last set of drawings which were made 'Under the Dome' and are from the single performance that took place there.

Most drawings are large: about A1 size, and cost between £150.00 and £600.00 unframed. Photographs are as close as possible to the actual colours though some distortion and variety of effects is unavoidable when looking via the internet.
